Sometimes I wonder whether it’s every parent’s nightmare or worries to start toilet training their children. Our little boy is 30 months old already, and it’s time to toilet train him slowly. Previously I have tried doing that for a couple of times with him but I gave up due to lack of patience. But after reading the email replied from the Nursery’s principal, she expected our boy to be toilet trained by the time the school term starts next year. Counting the days and months I have left, I started to feel panicky about it.

Mommy: YanShang! you are big boy now, don’t wear diaper okay?

YanShang: Okay! I want to wear shorts.

Mommy: Okay (happily took off the diaper and put on the shorts for him), you want to wee wee must tell mommy, then mommy bring you to the toilet and shh shh okay?

YanShang: Okay!

5 minutes later….

Mommy: Do you want to shh shh?

Yanshang: No!

Every 5 minutes, asking the same question to YanShang but the answer is still a “NO”! Suddenly a pool of urine appeared on the floor, Yanshang gave a stunned look and then looked at Mommy….

Mommy: Aiyoh! Why before wee wee don’t want to tell mommy? (quickly went to take a cloth to wipe off the mess on the floor) *faint*

In the end, mommy surrender and went to take a new diaper and put it on again! Sigh!

Well….I guess I have to give him more time and I need to have more patience with him if not he’ll never ever get to learn how to wee wee in the toilet.

Saw an interesting article on the internet on Toilet-Shaped House, this was built by the World Toilet Association in Korea. Imagine yourself living in a gigantic toilet..minus away the wee wee & poo poo…hehe!

Past few weeks was quite hectic for me, both little darlings were sick for the past weeks. Firstly, it was kor kor who was down with running nose & slight cough (suspecting he caught the illness from the playgroup). Subsequently, mei mei also got the flu & cough plus fever somemore….*faint*!

Mei mei’s fever was up and down for a few days and got us worried, I was pratically in and out of the Kid’s Clinic for a few times with the children. Luckily, kor kor recovered quite fast but mei mei took a while becoz she was down with viral infection and had viral rash outbreak on her hands, sigh! It was quite tiring for me during that period as I had to go to work and had to bring them to the clinic to see PD after work. Now everything is back to normal…

Cheeky girl

We all know that it’s quite dangerous to put lots of toys into the playpen with the child without any supervision. Therefore, I put only 1 or 2 toys in the playpen for ger ger to play just in case she’s bored. Guess what I saw? She put her leg thru the toy and fell asleep with it…

Gotcha!

The convenience of having a webcam at home is that I can monitor my children whenever I’m free. I was at work today and happened to saw our little boy trying to climb up & down the sofa & he was reprimanded by Ah Ma..hehe!

FYI: Initially we installed the webcam was to spy on the maid’s action. Since we are maidless now, it’s actually a good tool for me to look at our children whenever I miss them during work.

Hubby got 5 free tickets to Air Show, we brought along our son & went there with my BIL, SIL & her husband. It was a blazing hot day, and the heat was unbearable. We were hanging around outside of the exhibit hall to look at all the gigantic planes & I got myself sun-burned…sigh!

Luckily, our son was not affected by the weather, he was busy enjoying roaming around in the exhibit hall (trying to get freebies & goodie bags from various booths) . After spending about 7 hours there, we decided to go home and rest. The crowd was crazy, I got a shocked when we were leaving the place at around 4pm. The queue for the shuttle bus/ coaches & taxis were extremely long…..*faint*! In the end, all of us decided to take the 7-seater limousine van to go back home…luckily it’s much faster.

Music Lesson

piano2.jpgAlthough hubby & myself learnt music during our younger days, sad to say that we stopped halfway and did not manage to finish our music courses. Hubby learnt violin & myself learnt the piano. I stopped at Grade 5 & lost my Grade 5 certificate…sob sob! Come to think about it, I haven’t been playing piano ever since I stopped at Secondary 3. The reason I stopped playing is due to stress from school work & maybe I was getting quite bored on pratising the same songs for the music exam over and over again..haha! Imagine all my parent’s money had gone down the drain….(feeling a bit guilty now :P).

When I was pregnant, I will let the baby hear classical or baby’s music almost everyday to sort of stimulate their brain. I dunno whether this will work but no harm doing it rite? Now we felt that our children are quite interested in music (judging by their action), so hubby suggested that I should start scouting for a suitable music school for our son (obviously, this task is thrown to me now :)).

I have been scouting around for a suitable music school for a couple of months already, finally decided on one (I shall not reveal which school till it’s confirm!) and the good news is they are going to open a new branch in Hougang soon. I felt so happy because it will be nearer and more convenient for me to send him to and fro. So in the meantime I will wait for their call to organise and confirm the class before the opening! Woo hoo!

Buggy Board

I have been contemplating for a while whether to buy a 2 seater stroller or a buggy board for our 2 children. As a concerned mother, I will look high & low for cheaper & feasible solutions for them. After months of constant searching & thinking…I have decided to buy a $90 buggy board to attach to our current stroller. Our toddler boy had a fun time standing behind his sister while I was pushing the stroller!

Basic courtesy

Talking about basic courtesy, most people took it for granted that it’s not very important in their everyday lives. Since young, my parents taught me to show basic courtesy to strangers, families members & friends. A simple “Thank you” / “xie xie” / “Hello” / “ni hao” might not be a significant word to some people, but it actually reflects your upbringing & your character. Saying a few more words from our mouth would not cause us to lose anything at all, in fact it will make people feel happier!

As a mother of 2 now, I always believe basic courtesy is very important for them to learn and use in their everyday lives. Every time, I will remind my son to say thank you or say some greetings when they see any aunties/ uncles or even children. Even though my ger is still young, I will still use the same method to educate her about basic courtesy, as I believe that “Shang Liang Bu Zheng, Xia Liang Wai”. Quite shameful to say that in this society, there’s still a small fraction of people who do not know the meaning of basic courtesy, or are they just plain lazy?

It was a very busy & tiring week for us, especially when we had to bring both little darlings to go and “bai nian”! I think the happiest person should be our little prince, he had gotten a lot of “ang bao” plus he had eaten so many chocolates, sweets & CNY goodies…now he’s sick (down with slight cough & running nose). As for our little princess, she was also enjoying all the uncles & aunties blessings & some of them took turns to carry her. The most exciting part for me was more on dressing up my little darlings, both of them changed up to 2 outfits per day, haha!

Here are some snapshots taken before CNY & during CNY:

One of my favourite masterpiece done by our boy boy , it was done at his playgroup centre. Pineapple represents “Ong Lai”, wang wang….

The day before CNY eve, we had dinner @ Swensen Compasspoint while waiting for hubby to arrive after work! (Sorry hubby, I was too hungry to wait for your arrival so I tucked in first!)
